An award winning retail experience

Designhouse were awarded the creation of a brand strategy, naming, identity and guidelines for a high quality shopping and leisure centre in the heart of Livingston, Scotland.

The development features an innovative EFTE roof to shield customers from the unpredictable Scottish climate. This inspired ‘The Elements’ name and the ability to ‘shop whatever the weather’ provided Designhouse with a unique concept to inform the distinctive visual language.

We’re proud of the results:
The centre is 98% full and has attracted high profile tenants such as Swarovski, H&M, Top Shop, Burton, Next, M&S and Debenhams.

The Centre
As a conclusion to Designhouse’s work with Land Securities’ Shop Livingston development, Designhouse progressed the B2B ‘Elements’ identity for the B2C market.

Designhouse created an umbrella identity system, providing consistency to the entire retail proposition. The keystone to Shop Livingston is The Centre (previously expressed as ‘The Elements’ for the B2B market) and it was the opening of this cutting-edge retail experience that heralded the launch of the overarching identity. The new look was revealed on hoardings, signage, uniform and printed material.

Wishing to capitalise on a new identity and strapline – ‘retail experience’, Land Securities’ Retail commissioned Designhouse to redesign its communication materials, directed at decision makers and influencers in the retail arena.

Designhouse recommended the use of a more personalised, visual and verbal style of communication, featuring retail partners describing their relationship with Land Securities’ Retail in their own words.

By creating the theme ‘Perfect Partners’, Designhouse was able to clearly differentiate Land Securities, both in content and in tonality.
